Postpartum Sealing Ceremony

A closing of the bones ceremony provides much needed nurture and healing for new moms any time after birth.

This ancestral tradition can be found in Mexico, called “La Cerada” as well as other countries in Middle and South America. It can even be traced around the globe to Russia and Africa.

The main philosophy behind this technique is to provide comfort and relaxation to new mothers, as well as holding space for them and their emotions; to witness and honor whatever might be show up for them.

Muttersprache Deutsch

Hallo liebe deutschsprachigen Mammas in Charleston.

From my first phone call with Sabine, she made me feel comfortable and supported. From prenatal prep (including her amazing yoga classes), to birth and after, she was a crucial part of my natural birth being such a positive experience. When my birth didn’t go as planned and we were transferred from the birth place to the hospital, she was there every step of the way to guide me toward the type of birth I wanted. Having her there for my first birth was great for both me and my husband and allowed me to be able to relax and him to be able to feel confident in supporting me. She was also very helpful after birth for questions, breastfeeding support, & to connect me with postpartum resources. I am so glad we worked with her & I highly recommend Sabine!

Sabine was an incredible support as I prepared for birth. Our family was seeking a doula in anticipation of our second child, our first birth was traumatic and Sabine was very gentle and gave us exactly what we needed. I was empowered to have the most redeeming birth experience, her expertise and confidence put my husband and I both at ease. She made us feel capable and allowed us to truly enjoy our labor and birth. We were so comfortable with her as our teammate. Sabine was such a gift to us as we brought our baby into the world.

I cannot recommend Sabine enough. As a first time mom, I was obviously nervous - about everything. I lost my own mom a few years ago, and didn’t have a “village” here for support. We found Sabine, chatted with her, and I immediately felt better. As my pregnancy progressed, she was available to answer any questions I had, and she made a few house calls as I got closer to my due date. She helped us make decisions about inducing, various vaccines, products, etc, in a non-biased or judgmental way, but with research, resources, and experiences. My birth journey did NOT go according to plan, which made me even MORE grateful to have Sabine in my corner. The staff at the hospital were familiar with her, and worked well with her. When we were finally told after days of laboring, that a c-section was our only option left, and we needed to do it NOW due to fetal distress, I was scared. Scared for my baby, scared for me… The operating room was bright, and busy, and loud. I was overwhelmed and fighting panic - but I heard Sabine’s distinct voice through it all, coaching me through it, getting me to focus on the playlist she shared with me, remembering to breathe. My baby was ultimately born, and Sabine even remembered the song she was born to (and shared it with me once the dust settled). I am SO thankful she was on my team, especially the day of. She’s worth her weight in gold, and I will always be grateful for her experience and assistance and role in my daughter’s birth story.

I could not speak more highly of Sabine and her guidance, care and coaching through my entire prenatal, labor and postpartum experience. My labor and delivery did not turn out quite as expected but through her patience and directness, I truly felt coached through the entire process. I went into the whole experience with knowledge and expectation, knowing that no two labors are the same, and felt comfortable and confident with all the pivots, using her as a guiding light. THANK YOU SABINE!

Sabine is truly wonderful. She’s very intuitive and empathic, and you can feel that from her right away and during her supports during labor. This makes her gifted in working with us mothers during such a vulnerable time. She’ll know what you’re feeling the whole way through. I’ve had two successful vbacs with her, and neither one were “easy” feats with multiple layers to tackle both physically and emotionally. I drew from her strength and belief in me to get me through to the end and achieved the births I wanted…I can’t recommend her enough, just wish she could join our family!
